Seeing red as road signals go manual | Bangkok Post: opinion

Putting policemen in charge of the traffic lights goes against every rule that would make traffic flow. If one looks at the various panels hung along the road to indicate traffic congestion it is common to see ominous red lines indicating heavy traffic every which way. The only thing that comes to mind is the Royal Thai Police's new initiative, seen by many as quite ridiculous, to switch from automatic to manual traffic controls in central Bangkok. Under manual management the key word is "as long as it is not my problem, I don't care". The government could take the opportunity of Bangkok being the runner up in the world rankings as an opportunity to revamp traffic-related infrastructure.
